"Pitcher of the Year"
.

Never give up attitude and hard work pays off for Megan Carver and and undefeated Fall season for her school team at Cascade Middle School.
.
"Megan tried pitching last year and had some results but was not totally satisfied. She took some time off from LFA Academy and played mostly infield spots with Acers Kasner 12u for 2009 regular season. Adam has brought her speed up and cleaned-up her mechanics. He also worked on her 'mental game' and put her on a high calorie diet which included peanut butter and jelly sandwitches. Megan goes hard for 3 hour practices with Acers then another 2 hours per week with Coach Adam. It was the middle of Summer and Megan wanted back on the mound. I took her to LFA Pitching Camps and Adam kicked her butt in shape, made her arm much stronger and Megan did the rest, I asked her if she can make the committment and she said alright. "
dad, Chuck Carver
.
"I know Megan works hard at what she wants in everything she puts her mind to. We appreciated her efforts with Adam."
mom, Jen Carver
.
"This time with a new attitude and hard work paid off big time. I only know of one other team this year that went undefeated and it was a high school team I was a pitching coach for, 4a Emerald Ridge. You ask anyone two years prior if that team could go all the way and you would have laughed. Pitching is everything when it comes to going all the way. Someone strong and with a never give up attitude has to be on the mound leading the charge to such a goal. It sounds far fetched I know... but for me and my pitchers we have a mind-set. Our minds are on the same page and intensity level...go hard to win or go home crying after losing. Winning is not everything to a development recreational team. Try telling that to someone at LFA training camp where winning is everything to a pitcher. These young ladies work harder than any team or club or academy out there. I don't know how to go soft or train for average. Why would you train someone to have a chance of losing. This is not my style and it is not what my pitchers want. The parents go for it!! Once they see a change in their daughter's new attitude, then new player-new person, they just love that about training at LFA. The LFA Pitcher works hard and knows this to be part of a winning philosophy or success recipe."
.
Congratulations Megan, I am very proud of your major accomplishment at Cascade Middle School and your personal dedication as a person!!

.

Stephanie Shupe pitches 7 innings

to hold 5-4 lead over Extreme 16A

.
ASA October 2009 update;
.
LFA's Ace and the pride of Lakes High School Softball, Stephanie Shupe of MsStix threw 7 innings to hold a 5-4 lead and Sunny Dorhofer came in to plug the bottom of the 7th in the Championship game and defeated 16u Extreme at the ASA 16u FALL Northwest Championships.
.
"You have done a great job with Stephanie, her pitches have so much movement. The team came together had fun and won. " -coach Roger
.
"Steph's pitches looked good. She had 7 K's against Lady Sharks. MsStix really came together as a team and so did the pitcher-catcher combinations."
Dad - Bryan Shupe
.
It was a real pleasure to watch Fall Ball at the highest level last weekend. To see the MsStix battle in the Semi Final then go and win a close one in the Finals was fun to watch and see many proud parents there enjoying their players and the sport they love. Even with some bumps and bruises, all the girls hit well and fielded balls properly. Just good things happend. I look forward to watching this team grow and play some more.

Lakes High School of Washington inspires athletes to be their best

Kelli Bornander,Soph/R/P
NSU

Coach Kelli Bonander, 2009 assistant LFA Camp Instructor
assists 12u pitcher, Cidni Mason of Puyallup at 09' LFA Summer Camp

.

“ I look forward to getting together with the young pitchers at Camp to share my Dream with them. Each day I work on their training sets with them and later we talk about their goals and dreams. You never know what may happen on your Team. Sometimes it’s not about you and you have to move on and work harder if your team leaves you. Coaches will say things they may regret later. It all works out. It did for me. You have to leave your doubts with the people that doubted you or your potential. Coach Adam saw me as an opportunity to build a Dream when nobody else wanted to, he stepped up for me. I went through a major change. He helped me reach my immediate goals at Lakes High School and LadyHawks 18u, then was able to drive me to my Dream of one day playing college softball as a starting pitcher my Freshman year of College. You never give up trying and working hard at your Dreams no matter what. ”.

.
Stephanie Shupe, starting pitcher in 2009 as a Freshman
will be on the mound again in 2010 with Lakes High School
.
Experience is key for any young varsity pitcher. Stephanie pitched in every game for Lakes in 2009 and that kind of experience can really pay off in the long run. Steph also pitched the majority of the games for Lady Vikings club team in 2009. Now in the off season Shupe is putting together her pitches with more speed an movement and taking on the responsibilities of being a leader with coach Adam and her dad Bryan at LFA Pitching Camps.
.
Stepahnie Shupe has some big shoes to fill. 2007 All League Pitcher, Kelli Bornander from Lakes High School went on to be a starting pitcher for NSU. Shay Naranjo of MsStix 14u went on to place 10th at Nationals with Acers 16a in 2006. Steph has worked hard will little time off. Now doubling-up her Pitching training for the Fall with coach Adam and her dad Brian.
.
Stephanie has been training with coach Adam La Serna for the past 12 months on every type of pitch there is. Stephanie has pitched her share of games in 2009, over 40 games!! Experience is hard to come by these days in ASA/NSA/USSS Fastpitch. Everyone wants the starting spot and have the ball in their hand. Steph has seen the competition on Varsity as a pitcher for Lakes high school in Lakewood,Washington. Pitching every game on varsity is a big accomplishment in high school AAA schhol ball. She was able to do that with some big help from her dad Bryan and coach Adam. "Adam pushes her pretty hard. He knows what she needs to work on and it helps her focus on every type of pitch and game situation. MsStix coach Roger was happy to hear she was trained by Coach Adam. His goddaughter Shay pitched for Roger when she was 12 years old. "
.
"Shay helped Roger win his first 14u Championship in 2002. It was a fun weekend and it was the last tournament of the summer. Shay shared the pitching duties with Sarah Holman a 14 year old pitcher. As a 12 year old, Shay really learned allot about fastpitch from Roger and how the game is played. We look forward to Stephanie playing ball for Roger and the MsStix."

2008 MsStix 18gold Sidewinder Champions
.
2010 will be a season for building another future outstanding 18 Gold program such as the one in 2008, coached by Roger Mosier.
.
The MsStix Purple will hold tryouts for a new 16U team for 2010.
This new SBA MsStix 16U team will be coached by Roger Moshier and Kelly Parsons.
Coach Roger has coached at the 16U and 18U levels and has taken several of his past MsStix teams to the ASA Nationals tournaments. Kelly Parsons is a current “All Conference” catcher at Montana State University - Billings and former MsStix player. A strong core of players from the 2009 MsStix Purple 14A team will move up to 16U, and we are looking to add 5 - 6 new MsStix players to this team. The MsStix will play several local fall tournaments before we begin our winter workouts indoors at Varsity Baseball in Kent. During the spring and summer we will play in 10 – 12 tournaments including NSA State, ASA Metros, and ASA Regionals along with a couple of travel tournaments in Newburg Oregon (NAFA Summer Nationals & West Coast Challenge), and Eastern Washington.

Former LAKES HIGH SCHOOL standout, Alison Mc Wherter, now a National Champion at University of Washington leads the path for players from Lakes High School such as Kelli Bornander and Stephanie Shupe. Some big shoes to fill but similar steps taken already to grow into great fastpitch players. The dedication factor has been raised. Kelli, now a Sophomore trained very hard over the summer with Coach Adam on perfecting the power riseball alongside Stephanie at LFA Summer Pitching Camp. These two outstanding players are also 4.0 students. Athletes who care about their education and being the best leaders and role models. Lakes High School is a place of inspired students with a vision for being the best they can be. Alison Mc Wherter was one of the Lakes High School inspired students who helped lead UW Softball to a National Crown in 2009 will try to do it again in 2010. Being the best seems to be a Lakes High School trait and a good one.
